What I did learn????

I learned allot while typing my senior research Blog. One of the many thing that i learned is that the great game of basketball was not invented in America. It was invented in Canada, at an Y.M.C.A The man that invented the game was name Dr. James Naismith. Dr. Naismith was a gym teacher. I also learned that the first ever college basketball game was played on January 18, 1896, when the University of Iowa invited student from the new University of Chicago for an experimental game. That final score was Chicago 15, Iowa 12,which is very different from the hundred-point scores of today in basketball. I also learned the first 13 rule to the game of Basketball. These thing where very important to my research. I used this info with prior nought to type the blog. Which help me to answer these questions What I wont to know about Dr. Jame Naismith? What was the reason the you came up with the game of basketball? How did you make the first basketball? How did the game blow up? The most important thing I learned is how to tell the differences between non-credible and credible information, when it so ok to use non-credible information. I will use this information in college and for the rest of my life.

Great young Star Of the Game.

Today Basketball is more then a game it is a way of life. The best players live a good life, but it didn't start that way. An up and coming star is LeBron James. He has a shoe endorsement Nike. He also endorses Gatorade and even car insurance, but he started young. He played his high school ball at St. Vincent-St. Mary HS in Ohio. He came striate out of high school as a first round overall draft pick. LeBron came in to the NBA five years ago. The lucky team that pick up was the Cleveland Cavaliers. Who he still plays for them today. According to the NBA website in the 2007-2008 season started 74 out of 75 games and averaged 30 points, 8rebounds, 7assists and 2 steals per game. There are only two other players to every 30 points in NBA history, Michael Jordon and Oscar Robertson. LeBron also had great achievements in high school. He was named the consensus 2003 National High School player of the year. His junior and senior year he was named the Parade High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Gatorade named him the Player of the Year his junior and senior year to. He was doing great things on the court. LeBron lead his team to a win in the state championship 3 out of 4 seasons. His home state of Ohio as named him Mr. Basketball. LeBron his also played International basketball in the last three year. He played on the USA Olympic Basketball ball team. LeBron help his team win a bronze medal in the 06 World Championships. That team also won the FIBA Americas Championship in 07. Also this year in the past Olympics of 2008 helping his teams win a gold Medal. LeBron is a great player to watch play. He is a high scoring small forward. That can get to the hole at will and dunk on the computation. Lebron is a great young star of the great game of basketball.

The History of the Game

The Great game of basketball was invented in a Y.M.C.A on December 1891, by a Canadian- American teacher, physician. His name was Dr. James Naismith. The game would be play in door in the winter time. Instead a basketball you use a soccer ball. The ball where shoot in peach baskets that where placed on the wall. Teams had nine players on the count up onto 1897 when five players became the standard. The game rapidly spreader nation wide, and has can along way. http:www.history.com/content/basketball/the-history-of-basketball
Basketball had 13 rules they where as follow: The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man running at good speed. The ball must be held in or between the hands. The arms or body must not be used for holding it. No shouldering, holding, pushing, striking or tripping in any way of an opponent. The first infringement of this rule by any person shall count as a foul; the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is made or, if there was evident intent to injure the person, for the whole of the game. No substitution shall be allowed. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violations of Rules 3 and 4 and such as described in Rule If either side make three consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the opponents (consecutive means without the opponents in the meantime making a foul). Goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the ground into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edge and the opponents move the basket, it shall count as a goal. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by the first person touching it. In case of dispute the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in is allowed five seconds. If he holds it longer, it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on them. The umpire shall be judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have the power to disqualify men according to Rule The referee shall be the judge of the ball and decide when it is in play in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made and keep account of the goals with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee. The time shall be two 15-minute halves with five minutes' rest between. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winners. At first basketball did not have a pro league it started with College teams. Many coll eges adopted the game of basketball. The first game was played in the late 1890's. The first game long staged game was played in Madison Square Garden in the city of New York. People say that was when watching basketball became hot. The first pro league can in was formed in 1898. The league was formed to promote save playing less rough games. In about the 1950's basketball had become a major sport. This made basketball more interesting. In the 1960's pro teams wont coast to coast. Since the 1980s the NBA has become one of the most popular sports organizations in the world, in part because of the marketability of a number of high-profile star players, most notably Michael Jordan. A labor dispute curtailed the 1998–99 season

Basketball....WHY?????!!!!

The reason that I pick the subject of "Basketball, The Man and its history", is because I play basketball and I planned to play in the league over seas later on in my life. I wanted to know if basketball was for me so I choose to research on it. It's always good to study and learn more about your passion, especially if you want to get better at it.
Basketball to me is more than just a sport. It' s something that I look up to. There are many other things a black young man like me could be doing in the world but I decided to dedicate my life to something positive. It's fun, exercising, and sometimes tiring.
Basketball requires more skills than people think. Basketball takes timing, you have to know and have patience, math is involved, most of the time attitude can get in the way of the game but if you have team spirit and love for the game, good sportsmanship is what matters. http://www.nba.com/

I also wanted to show the young people that it takes more than just potential to play ball you have to want it. Grades are another important factor in the life of a ball player. People already have the mind set that "black" men can play ball but can barely spell their names. I wanted to prove them wrong. I have a gift and a message to get across to show that everyone isn't the same and it's more to ball than just ball.

Another thing that affects me when playing or being involved in basketball is how players with great potential ruin careers and chances to be professional by thinking that they are better than the next person. Team doesn’t me that one person does all the work. It takes a team to be great and I think that allot of ball players don't understand that. To me team means together everyone Achieves More, this is what motivates me to play harder and have more team spirit! Basketball is difficult and I’m here to tell the story.

What I Know, What to Know about Basketball?

What I know about Basketball?

I Know that Dr. Jame Naismith invented the great game of Basketball. Dr. Jame Naismith was born in Ontario, Canadian. He graduated High school and when collage. He got married and had kids. He a Canadian gym teacher. He taught physical education at an Y.M.C.A (http://www.dmoz.org/Sports/Basketball/Communities/YMCA/)
. The basketball rim had no backboard. It was just a peach basket. The way you score is by shooting a ball into the basket. There where only ten rules. One of the ten rules that i know is traveling. Traveling is when a player picks up the ball and walks with it. Another rule is that a person can't hit the ball with a closed fist.

What I wont to know about Dr. Jame Naismith?

What was the reason the you came up with the game of basketball?

How did you make the first basketball?

How did the game blow up?

Basketball is way of life now. Basketball stars are making millions just to play a game. Why is this sport so importent?
People put the game in front of there every day life. Everyone can't make it out of there life with this game. Is it the ticket out the hood?
